Of course we like to go to dog shows with our dogs. But we also like to do other things with them, like agility, obedience, field track (nose work) and Rally-obedience. Most of these acitivities are done at the local dog training school, but occasionally we participate in competitions.
Some of our dogs have been really clever ones who have loved to do obedience. Others did not have the motivation to do proper heel work, but loved the speed and challenge in agility. And to be honest there has been a dog or two in my life that was so lazy and comfortable that the only thing that turned them on was (and still is) a walk in the forrest or maybe "search-and-find" dog treats in the garden.
I think that all activities with a dog should be based on happy teamwork between dog and owner. Therefore I adapt the activities for each dog - the lazy one will be found on the couch and the active one on the agility track.
On this page I would like to mention a dog that had the quality of a really good allrounder:
LP1 INTUCH SEUCH Lamedazottel Heatwave. Apart from being a top show dog with severeal BOB-, group- and BIS-wins, this lovely boy also competed in obedience (LP1 is an
obedience title) and agility. In the year 1995 he was among the top 5 OES in Sweden in obedience, agility and show.
After mentioning "Sigge" above, my thoughts are going to another great allrounder of mine, LP1 SEUCH Lamedazottel Obsession. She also was a very good show dog (11 CAC, BOB- and groupwins), slightly better in obedience than Sigge. She did not like agility but was a very good tracker dog.

At the moment the working dog in our family is SEUCH NOUCH NV-10 Sweet Expression's Knock Your Socks Off. This girl loves about everything that keeps her brain busy! She does obedience quite well, loves the field tracking and is in agility education. On top of that she has won 7 CAC and 3 CACIB at dog shows. Becky has also competed in Rally-obedience.

This drawing desribes the wonderful feeling after a good field trial, when the dog has found all sticks and you feel like you've been in a movie and got the Oscar for it.
My friend Birgitta Tallberg made this drawing of me and Lamedazottel Obsession. :-)
